While the builder will take care of the “heavy lifting” portion of the project, when it comes to decorating, this is where you can have a great deal more leeway, and can in turn, make the home truly yours.
By following just a few simple tips, you can make this part of the home building process less stressful, and much more fun!
1) Choose a color scheme or theme.
One of the first items on your decorating list should be to choose a central theme or color scheme. This can help you with narrowing down how to go about decorating throughout. It will also help with essentially “tying together” all of the rooms and make your home flow seamlessly.
2) Consider the furniture in each room.
Once you have decided on a theme, it is also important to consider the furniture that you will place in each of the rooms. This, too, can help to enhance your home’s overall appearance and feel.
3) Think about the lighting.
Lighting can have a big impact on how you (and others) experience a home. With that in mind, it is important that you consider both focal point and background lighting in each room of your house. Here, be sure that you don’t go too dark, as this can make a room appear smaller. Alternatively, having lighting that is too bright can also hinder the look and feel of a room.
