Growing up in Orlando, my childhood was spent riding bikes to my friend’s houses and swimming in the neighborhood pools. As I got into college and started thinking about life, I decided to pursue being a home builder. In 2007, I graduated from the University of Florida Rinker School of Building Construction and went to work for a Winter Park based commercial general contractor.

Then in 2010, given the state of the economy, I found myself looking for work. Fortunately, with the help from my parents, we bought our first lot in College Park and built a duplex. Thus, Rare Builders was born! (Adjacent to this portion – I would like a little balloon /memo off to the side says “Did you know? Rare Builders was originally an acronym for Ross, Andy, Robin and Erin – the investors in the initial project”).

Now as a parent and College Park resident, I find myself outside all of the time with our two sons. Whether we are grilling on the weekend or watching a football game in the hot tub in November – the pool/yard/lanai are an extension of our daily life.

Erin Katzman, Co-Owner and CFO

Erin Katzman oversees the financial and administrative affairs of Rare Builders, and she is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Prior to her role at Rare Builders, Erin was an auditor at Ernst & Young, and the Senior Accountant at an investment firm in Winter Park, Florida.

Erin holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Florida, a Master of Accountancy from the University of North Florida, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Florida Atlantic University. Erin moved to Orlando in 2008 and has enjoyed all that Central Florida offers.

Did you know?

Rare Builders was started as a naming acronym for our first project. The first letters of each partner’s name in Andy’s first project spelled out R.A.R.E – Andy and Erin plus Andy’s parents, Robin and Ross.
