A local beginning, a disciplined approach to building, and a belief that an Orlando home should live as beautifully outside as it does within.
The beginning
College Park, 2010.
Rare Builders began in Orlando in 2010, when Andy Katzman and his parents purchased a College Park lot and built a duplex. The first project established a company rooted in the same neighborhoods where the work continues today.
The name came from the four original partners—Ross, Andy, Robin, and Erin. Their first initials formed R.A.R.E.
From that beginning, Rare Builders has focused on custom and select spec homes in Orlando, including Winter Park and College Park. The work ranges from established streets and infill lots to lakefront properties and mature landscapes, always planned as one complete experience from arrival to interior to outdoor living.

Andy Katzman
Andy grew up in Orlando, spending much of his childhood outside—riding bikes to friends’ homes and swimming in neighborhood pools. That experience continues to inform his belief that pools, yards, and Florida Rooms are essential parts of daily life in an Orlando home.
He graduated in 2007 from the University of Florida Rinker School of Building Construction and began his career with a Winter Park commercial general contractor. In 2010, during a difficult construction economy, Andy and his parents purchased a College Park lot and built the duplex that became Rare Builders’ first project.
Today, Andy leads construction and design and works directly with clients throughout the process. His focus is a considered plan, precise execution, and a home in which architecture, interiors, and outdoor spaces work together.
Co-Owner and CFO
Erin Katzman
Erin oversees the financial and administrative operations of Rare Builders. A licensed Certified Public Accountant, she brings disciplined financial management and clear communication to the company and to each client relationship.
Before Rare Builders, Erin worked as an auditor at Ernst & Young and as senior accountant at an investment firm in Winter Park. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Florida, a Master of Accountancy from the University of North Florida, and a Master of Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University.
Her role supports transparent pricing, organized decision-making, and a professional client experience from pre-construction through completion.

Rare Builders pairs thoughtful floor plans with disciplined construction quality and outdoor spaces designed from the beginning. Planning considers how the home meets the street, how rooms connect, and how interior life extends to pools, Florida Rooms, gardens, and outdoor kitchens.
Clients should understand the schedule, selections, costs, and consequences of each decision. Transparent pricing, consistent communication, careful coordination, and customer service are part of the construction process—not additions to it.
