Rare Builders began in College Park in 2010 and has since completed more than a dozen residences throughout the neighborhood. That body of work has given us a practical understanding of College Park’s infill lots, established streets, mature landscapes and varied architectural character.
Each project starts with its immediate context. Lot width, neighboring homes, existing trees, privacy and the relationship between indoor and outdoor space all influence the plan. The objective is a residence that feels individual while still belonging to the street around it.
New Construction on Established Streets
Infill construction requires the new residence to be studied at both the scale of the lot and the street. Setbacks, driveway placement, tree canopy, neighboring windows and the transition from public frontage to private living spaces all affect the plan.
The goal is not to repeat what is next door, but to establish a measured relationship to it through massing, openings, landscape and arrival.
Planned for Florida Living
Living, dining and kitchen spaces are planned in relation to shaded terraces, pools and gardens. Openings are placed for daylight and views while privacy and heat exposure remain part of the same discussion.
This coordination allows outdoor living to function as part of the daily plan rather than as an isolated amenity.
Built in College Park
New Hampshire is the current published case study for Rare Builders’ College Park work. Its photography records a warm-lit stucco residence beneath a mature oak, with connected interiors and outdoor rooms leading to the pool.
