Formosa

A tall glazed entry gives Formosa a distinct street presence, while the main living spaces look toward the pool at the back of the home. The exterior pairs light walls and textured cladding with dark window frames. Inside, a contrasting kitchen island, patterned shower tile and integrated closet storage give each space its own character.

The Brief

At 1808 Formosa Avenue, the two-story residence connects its street-facing entry to an open kitchen and living area. The front elevation centers on a vertical band of textured cladding and an upper window above the glazed entry door.

The Response

The kitchen combines white perimeter cabinets with a dark island and three glass pendants. Pale flooring continues into the living area, where wide sliding doors face a covered paved patio and rectangular pool. A patterned-tile shower and a walk-in closet with drawers, shelves and hanging rods extend the project story beyond the principal living spaces.
