Handyman / Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities

• Apartment and rental-home turns
• General handyman and maintenance work
• Drywall repair, painting, and touch-ups
• Minor plumbing repairs
• Drain cleaning and clearing stoppages
• Minor electrical repairs and troubleshooting
• Doors, locks, cabinets, trim, and hardware
• Appliance troubleshooting and minor repairs
• Caulking and general preventative maintenance
• Basic HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance
• Cleaning condensate drain lines and drain pans
• Identifying issues that need to be referred to a specialty contractor

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate has hands-on apartment or residential maintenance experience and is comfortable working across multiple trades. You should be able to receive a work order, diagnose the problem, and determine how to fix it without needing constant supervision. We value someone who is:

• Dependable and organized
• Mechanically inclined and a good troubleshooter
• Comfortable working independently
• Professional around tenants and homeowners
• Clean and detail-oriented
• Comfortable using a smartphone for work orders, photos, and communication
• Experienced with basic residential HVAC systems and drain cleaning

Required: Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Opportunity for Growth

This position has significant room to grow beyond rental-property maintenance. Rare Builders builds luxury custom homes in the Orlando area, including homes valued at $3M+. As the right person learns our standards and demonstrates their abilities, we intend to gradually expand the position into high-end home maintenance, punch and warranty work, preventative maintenance, and eventually some project supervision.

We are also developing a concierge home-maintenance business, and this person could ultimately become a key field technician as that business grows.

We are looking for someone who wants a stable, long-term position with an opportunity to take on greater responsibility over time.
